Psoriasis happens at any age. There is often a genetic component, unmasked by many triggers.
Look after yourself
Eat a healthy diet, take plenty of exercise, don’t smoke and only drink alcohol within recommended limits. This is because being overweight, smoking and drinking makes psoriasis worse. People with psoriasis have an increased risk of heart disease, stroke and diabetes, making a healthy lifestyle even more important.
Watch out for your joints
If you have symptoms of joint stiffness or pain, this may be the first sign of psoriatic arthritis, which needs prompt treatment.
